Eating out near to Thorntree Barn Arnprior

We are blessed with a range of place to Eat and Drink near to us.  These include:

The Lion and Unicorn, is a traditional family owned country hotel, pub & restaurant situated in Thornhill just outside Stirling, welcoming visitors in to warm up by our 3 log burning fires (including a huge open fireplace in one of the dining rooms). Full of friendly locals, it is one of the few Free Houses left in Scotland, with reasonable prices on beer, food & accommodation.

The Cross Keys  in Kippen is a traditional and comfortable inn situated in the small village of Kippen, Stirlingshire, amongst some of Scotland’s most picturesque scenery and between the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, with the ancient city of Stirling only minutes away. It’s the Gastro Pub of the Year, according to Dram.

Being the oldest inn of its kind in Stirlingshire, The Cross Keys is as traditional as it gets, making it an ideal getaway destination or a great stop over for those going further north or returning south. Also perfect for walkers, cyclists, golfers and fishing. The pub has log fires in winter and the beer garden has great views in summer.

There are also three contemporary en suite rooms with heated floors, excellent beds and fresh white linen.

Food at the Cross Keys is traditional modern with standards and specials side by side, served until 9pm in the bar, lounge and restaurant, which merge together into a large, spirited eating and drinking space where effusive locals, chatty families and serious foodies come together to enjoy a unique village atmosphere. Sundays are roast day with two types of roast prepared that morning. Dogs and kids with well behaved parents are welcome. Kids can enjoy the play area in the beer garden.

The Lake of Menteith is a unique and special place, Scotland’s only natural Lake and an environmental oasis. On the banks is the delightful hamlet of Port of Menteith, so named as for centuries boats have made their way between the Lakeside and the Priory on the Isle of Inchmahome carrying Mary Queen of Scots, esteemed Priory visitors, munitions and in more recent years generations of visiting families. In the Port and on the banks you will find The Lake of Menteith Hotel, once the manse for the church and now a fine and popular hotel in the style of a New England Waterfront Inn.
